Brief biography:          I am an English teacher in Essex. I have recently written an A Level guide for ‘The Great Gatsby’ as part of the Mr Bruff series, blogs for TES, and create resources for Edusites.

How can we use research to adapt our approach to teaching analytical phrasing?

This session looks at using cognitive load theory to inform the teaching of analytical phrasing, and identifies methods to reduce the cognitive load when approaching the language paper. Included in the session will be resources, lesson ideas, and language paper practice questions and answers that have used this method to approach the teaching of analysis.
