What I do

Brief biography:          I’m deputy head teacher at Bridgwater College Academy, an all-through school. I lead on curriculum and standards but still get plenty of opportunity to teach English to KS2-4, which is always the highlight of my day.

What I want to tell you about

Workshop title:           Grammar – from fixation to effect

Brief description:        With the current KS2 curriculum and GCSE criteria, it’s pretty easy for students (and teachers also) to spend a lot of time labelling parts of speech or using grammatical structures to hit the mark scheme. This session aims to explore how we can move from fixation to effect – utilising grammar to really craft writing.
