Who I am

Twitter handle:           @susansenglish

Favourite book:          Game of Thrones series by George RR Martin (not sure what that says about me – escapist perhaps!)

What I do

Brief biography:          I’m an enthusiastic teacher of English and life-long learner, currently working in an idyllic rural Academy as Leader of KS4 learning, but on the move to a city school as Head of Department in English. I aim to enjoy teaching, engage and inspire students and hopefully along the way they’ll learn a thing or two!

What I want to tell you about

Workshop title:           Plans and pitfalls of building an interleaved curriculum

Brief description:        Digging under the surface of major changes to a departments curriculum map to embed these new systems and ways of working into the delivery of curriculum content, across all key stages, with the rationale of embedding ideas into the long-term memory of students. The session will look at how the seeds of ideas, grow, flourish and change as they are implemented, reflected on and adapted to suit the context of the school, the staff involved in the teaching and learning and the way that the students engage with them.
